Can't wait for Christmas, can't way for freetime thats not loaded with uni guilt and can't wait to finally feel creative again. Been so inspired this week but have no time to 'make do and mend' urrgh secretly hoping I'll be housebound over christmas and will have no choice but to cover everything in roses and feathers and stars. I know thats a shallow way to view design but its bloody easy once your inspired and i am. urgh i hate you louis xiv and your sham of a revolution. men in tights. MEN IN TIGHTS. no way hose. the victorians wouldny have stood for it.
I went shopping today and bought bargain basics tshirts trousers needles threads chocolates (!) and socks. Seen so much good stuff that I could cry at. Sold out my arse Lanvin for h&m. them gorgeous pointy patent babies were staring right at me right in my size!! nightmare cash situation avoided. rambling on still avoiding the massive guilt that is my degree opportunity. doing it now now now. haha theres the phone!!

film and costume.
via. http://bumbumbum.me/2010/10/11/dress-the-part-10-movie-poster-inspired-by-mens-style/ i love this! wish i'd thought of it first!
i'd keep it up to date but i'm not a fan of the new collection too much. if my boyfriend appeared at my door in the crazy wedged brogues and baggy trousers with matching crotch bag he'd get a massive laugh and a wedgie. sorry milan, Britain does it better
doing some dissertation research on menswear WHAT A STRESS. haha not. been oggling prada aw menswear and paul smith videos for far longer than i should have. Been looking for menswear sources and marketing tactics and am aleady realising that by the end of this work i'm either going to be a prime candidate with a job in marketing menswear, or a prime candidate thats sick of the charade, looking for a job in a flowershop and living from home. bummer. http://www.manabouttown.tv/ that link starts of being all fit and cool but the more you watch on the more the preppy wanker makes you be a little sick in your mouth, he's definately not as good looking as he thinks he is, despite the very flattering wardrobe and direction. He'd maybe be a better fit behind the till in abercrombie and fitch. ew.

Last week we went and took some photos.
I've been working in Barnardos Vintage all summer, getting my kicks out of making big bulk sales to fashion show organisers and sidelining a developing enjoyment of window dressing, store layouts, entertaining and convincing customers and dressing mannequins. Not gonna lie either like - I do get first dibs on all the best bits. (a la satchel bags and designer nick nacks) So.. spurred on by the array of magic finds that people still seem to dismiss as 'upstairs rubbish' I thought I'd dress some dollys, head out on location and take some nice pictures influenced by upcoming autumn winter 2010/11 trends.
The first two trends we looked at are the Country poet trend and the maybe predictable a/w trend of military. I mixed up some Barnardos vintage with some of mum's ageing wardrobe and added some habidashery sprucings, and here are the results...
Siobhan is: Country Poet
Laura is : Military Uniform
Dress: mum's wardrobe circa '97, gloves: barnardos, boots (just seen) Bishops, hair ribbon: habidashery
change o' location
Hat piece, faux fur coat, Shirt, skirt, military badge: all Barnardos Vintage.
These are my favourite editorial(ly) acceptable(ey) pictures of the day. Any photo advice would be amazing, I'm not a photographer like so throw some my way. Never been boss on a shoot day before so was in abit of a tizz but I think pictures turned out quite well. This week I'm hoping to get some more goth glam~esque pictures do 'cos they'll be more fun. Stud fest and bullet belt central. Can't wait!
Geri was there too... hahaha:

you know when you watch something, and it just gives you a sense of clarity...
Last summer I read Andy Warhol's autobiography and drew a masses of inspiration from him. He was abit mad, abit extreme, confident and completely himself.
Last week i watched an Andy Warhol documentary by the bbc that I completely recommend watching. Some say Andy Warhol's best creation was himself... he stood out, drew on his surroundings and made himself something special. I completely adore his work and everytime I get a rebrief of his bits (lol) feel a big fat desire to do something interesting.. something bold and artsy. Spent today sewing and have been dreaming of crafts, cooome on motivation, thank you inspiration!!
